In most developing nations, only about 5% of dogs have owners, compared to 95% in the U.S.

While traveling in Central America, Liz Shafiroff witnessed starving strays at every street corner and could not turn her back. From there, Global Strays was born with the mission to stop the immediate suffering and reduce future suffering of animals in underserved regions around the world by partnering with local animal welfare professionals. Since 2017, we have helped over 10,000 strays as well as thousands of pet owners. We do much more than help one animal at a time: We tackle animal mistreatment at its root by educating communities to properly care for their pets. Smart, culturally sensitive, and connected to animal welfare advocates around the world, there is no one like Global Strays.
